11 Ways to Make Money Online

In a world where traditional economic opportunities are no longer as plentiful as they once were, supplementing your income and working from home on your own time has become something that is more and more accessible and affordable for the average person. With the widespread use of the internet, there are many opportunities to make money online popping up: here are eleven of them.

Start a Blog

Blogging is one of the easiest and most sustainable online income sources. As long as the blog is set up the right way, in a niche that you like writing about, with the right content aimed at the right audience, you can make a lot of passive income from a blog. If you work hard at it and end up being successful, blogging can eventually let you fire your boss- and be your main source of income!

Affiliate Marketing

If you have a following on the internet, such as a blog, podcast, or a large social media following for instance, you can make money online through affiliate marketing. Affiliate marketing involves advertising or promoting a company with a product or products relevant to your content, to your audience. Whenever someone makes a purchase using your affiliate link, you receive a commission at no extra cost to the buyer. If you have an audience, affiliate marketing can make you a substantial amount of income.

Selling Products Online

You can sell products online to a worldwide market. It is very easy to set up an online shop in just a few hours. Although selling products online sounds difficult and intimidating, it is deceptively easy. You can set up your virtual shop with products and have them shipped directly to the customer from the manufacturer. You don’t have to hold any inventory, and customer service, returns, and shipping are all managed by the manufacturer. If you are creative and enjoy making arts and crafts, clothing, or almost anything else, you can also sell those on Shopify or Etsy.

Become an Online Tutor

There are numerous companies and individuals that are hiring people to tutor online, particularly teaching the English language to children in foreign countries like China. Some companies are paying over $20 an hour to online English tutors. All you need is a computer with video capability and an internet connection, and you can pick your own hours and work from anywhere that you can use a laptop.

Become a Virtual Assistant

Businesses and individuals need people to complete simple online tasks for them remotely. As a virtual assistant, you can be paid for managing social media accounts, bookkeeping, email management and marketing, customer service, creating content and more. This gig may not seem ideal, but if you are good at it and you find the right customers, you can easily make upwards of $10,000 per month.

Become a Proof-reader

Do you have an eye for catching grammar and spelling mistakes in a piece of writing? If this is something you excel at, proofreading might be for you. Lots of people seek the help of a proof-reader to verify that their work is free of mistakes, and are willing to pay for your services. Proof-reading is a low-stress, accessible source of income that provides the freedom to work when and where you want to.

Sell Your Services on a Freelance Job Site

Everybody is good at something. Everybody has some sort of skill that people are willing to pay for. Sites like Fiverr and Freelancer are chock full of people who are willing to pay for services such as article writing, relationship advice, translation, resume writing, proof-reading, and musical coaching, among many other things. Although this option does not necessarily allow you to work from home, you can set your prices, and you get to be your own boss.

Work as a Search Engine Evaluator

You can work from your computer at home as a search engine evaluator. The job involves evaluating search engine results to ensure that they are relevant based on the specific search terms. This is a very flexible side hustle, as you can work pretty much where ever and whenever you want to. The job pays an average of $15 per hour. Search evaluation companies include Lionbridge and Appen.

Sell Stock Photos

If photography is your hobby, you can turn it into a money-making business as well. You can upload your photos to sites like Shutterstock, Getty Images, and Deposit Photos and sell them for money. While it may not pay the bills, this is a great way to make some money on the side, off of your hobby.

Participate in Online Surveys

While not likely to become a career, participating in online surveys can make you some extra cash pretty quickly. Some sites pay up to $5 per survey, which is quite a bit when you consider that it only takes a few minutes of your time to complete a survey. These sites most often provide rewards via PayPal cash or gift cards from popular retailers like Amazon, Wal-Mart, and others. Doing online surveys can make you a little cash, very fast. It’s quick, easy, and a great side-hustle.

Start a Podcast (With a Niche)

If having casual discussions on specific topics sounds appealing to you, podcasting might be just your cup of tea! You can create a series based on any specific topic, record it, and post it on a platform like Spotify. While this is not lucrative at first, if your podcasts are of quality and your chosen topic has a large audience, you will slowly gain a following. With this following, you can approach companies whose products or services are relevant to your content to sponsor your podcast, and these sponsorships can pay hundreds. Podcasting is very quick and easy to start doing, but will require patience to get off the ground.

All of these ways to make money are relatively quick and easy to start doing, but it’s also important to remember that some of them require lots of patience and hard work to get them to the point where they start to make you the amounts of money that seem like a dream right now. Having said that, I feel obligated to tell you that the only thing that keeps separate the big dreams that you have, and the life that you live, is all that hard work! Life is hard work for pretty much everyone, but at least you can make money online and be your own boss through it all.

  1. I think that I will be able to add a few more to this entire list. Everything depends on the sum you want to ear and save afterwards.
